Since we'll soon be printing and selling finished 3D printable terrain models for the Necrontyr range, it seemed a good idea to grab a couple of Necron models to use for scale comparison purposes.
A quick trip to Ebay later, and I'd bagged this motley assortment of Necron warrior bits and pieces for five bucks....
Just about enough to assemble two brand new Necron warriors! Phew!
One (on the left) will be left unpainted for use in photos of unpainted terrain models, and the other (on the right) will be painted up and used in photos of printed and painted Necrontyr terrain.
Simple and classic paint job required for this Necron, so a dark silver metallic for his body and a medium grey for his weapon.
Then the whole model gets a very heavy wash of Nuln Oil, to give some definition to the nooks and crannies.
The Necron's body was then repainted with dark silver metallic to give it a better shine, leaving the black washed areas in shade.
Light silver highlights were added to various parts of the body, and light grey highlights to the edges of the weapon. His chest symbol was picked out in gold, and then bright green was painted over the weapon tube, eyes and reflective parts of his weapon and arms.
With that, Ned was born again! .... er.... reanimated?
Here's our bold hero on the new 6x4' gaming mat. Doesn't he look shiny?!
