The new castle gatetower has now been printed and assembled, so here are some black and white pics of the finished structure for you to enjoy, while this gets painted.....
£ It's HUGE!!!! With the base attached, this piece is 26cm x 22cm (10.5" x 9"), with a total height of 18cm (7").
£ Those solid-looking gates swing back to reveal the tunnel leading up to the upper level of the castle grounds.
£ As you'd expect, the building can be removed so you can get your models up through the tunnel.
£ Here's the rear of the gatetower, where the tunnel splits left and right. As you can see, there's plenty of headroom in the tunnel, even for the outrageously large helmets worn by samurai warriors!
£ Once up to the upper level, access to the building can be gained by two doors, one on either side. The doors can be hinged to open.
£ The interior of the building is fully textured, with heavy wooden flooring and a central firepit with a kettle. The walls of the gatetower are basic but functional wood beams, with plenty of arrow slots in the walls and murder holes in the floor.
£ Two versions of the gate doors are included - plain wood, and with a crest. I chose to print the crest version, featuring the clan symbol for Hosokawa (also included). You can include any clan symbols from the Clan Symbols Set. The gates also feature a heavy locking bar on the inside.
£ The outside of the gatetower has been modelled with wood panelling, like that found at Kumamoto Castle, and matches the Corner Tower model in style.
£The large hip and gable roof is also fully textured, with the distinctive tile shapes found on Japanese castles - different from normal domestic tiles.
This huge gatetower will be hitting the paintdesk from today, so watch this space for finished and painted pics soon!!!!
