We've been printing the test models for our Necrontyr Power Generators, and one thing I thought might be useful was an extra option for lighting them. So both designs (big and small) now feature an extra top section, allowing you to slot in a large marble!
£ This ring for the smaller of the power generators is designed to fit a 25mm / 1 inch glass marble. I popped in to my local 100 yen shop (dollar store in US, pound store in UK) and found this bag of marbles. Happily, they had 4 green marbles and some clear marbles - so I can test out what looks best with different LED lights!
£ A perfect fit! You can place an LED underneath, and the light should shine straight through.
In front of Ned the Necron, to you can see the other two options for 'tops' - a solid dome version (which you could also print in colour clear PLA filament if you wished) and a dome version with some vents cut in it. These vents will allow some of the LED glow to wash the interior generator walls.
£ You can place a normal LED on the underside, in the handy slot.
£ Here's a picture of the printed power generator (the big one), where you can also see the two 'top' options. There's a solid version and also another version with a hole for a 25mm / 1 inch marble.
£ Here's the smaller of the generators, with 2 of the 3 'top' options. A lovely clean print!
£ Finally for today, here are both generator models for a size comparison. I can see the smaller generators looking great on the battlefield in pairs or sets of four.
These models are hitting the paint desk as we speak, and should be ready for proper photos and download in a couple of days. Stay tuned!
